HOUSTON – The Houston Astros have agreed to a one-year deal with infielder Brendan Rodgers, pending a physical, three sources tell KPRC 2 Sports. It’s a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, per source.

Rodgers was non-tendered by the Colorado Rockies earlier this offseason. Rodgers hit .267 with an on-base percentage of .314 and a slugging percentage of .407 for a .721 OPS and a 94 OPS+. Rodgers hit 13 home runs with 54 RBI in 2024, but had stark home/road splits. Rodgers had an OPS of .888 at Coors Field, but an OPS of just .571 on the road. Rodgers’ platoon splits are also drastic, with the right-handed Rodgers hitting to an .818 OPS off lefties, and a .686 OPS against righties.
Rodgers had his best season in 2022, putting up a WAR of 4.3 and winning a Gold Glove for the Rockies.
The infielder was the 3rd overall pick in the pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, going one spot after the Astros drafted Alex Bregman. Once a top prospect, Rodgers has a career OPS+ of 90 while playing his home games in Coors Field. Rodgers put up a WAR of 1.1 in 2024.
