CINCO RANCH, Texas – Our KPRC 2 and UTMB Health Athlete of the Week for the Week of March 27 is Cinco Ranch Baseball star Lucas Franco. Franco is one of the top players in the state of Texas and has been a big part of the Cougars program since his freshman year. Now as a senior, he leads a young Cougars team who are trying to contend for their usual deep playoff run.
Franco is likely headed to play college ball at TCU, but also shows the potential to be drafted in the MLB Draft. Despite his excellent play, Franco has relished showing the young guys how to win.
“It’s a lot of fun,” said Franco. “Since my Freshman year we’ve been really, really good, and this year we lost a lot of seniors, so we’re pretty young but it’s fun to see these guys learn and grow.”
“He just gets better every year,” said head coach Brett Wallace. “We could tell he was a special player.”
