HOUSTON – Texans starting running back Woody Marks will be held out of a home game against the Las Vegas Raiders due to a lingering ankle injury, per league sources.
Marks had intended to play, but the team felt it was best to rest him this week. He returned to practice Friday on a limited basis and was questionable on thee injury report.

The Texans will lean on veteran running back and former Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl selection Nick Chubb and Jawhar Jordan, who earned a promotion to the active roster after rushing for 101 yards in his NFL debut last Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
Chubb has made a sound recovery from a rib injury and the team has planned all week for him to shoulder the workload with Marks missing practice Wednesday and Thursday.
Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (ankle, knee) was a game-time decision and the team opted to hold him out heading into a short week with a pivotal Saturday road game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Marks and Al-Shaair are officially inactive along with wide receiver Braxton Berrios, cornerback Ameer Speed, defensive end Solomon Byrd and offensive tackle Jarrett Kingston.
All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (oblique) is active.
Stingley returned to practice on a limited basis Friday and was listed as questionable. He has played through an oblique injury for the majority of the season since first hurting it in the season-opener against the Los Angeles Rams. His toughness has impressed teammates and coaches.
Wide receiver Christian Kirk (illness) is expected to play. He didn’t practice Friday. He is officially active.
