Javon Small hit the go-ahead free throw with 1.8 seconds remaining, and short-handed West Virginia held on after blowing an 18-point second-half lead to beat seventh-ranked Kansas 62-61 in an intense Big 12 opener for both teams Tuesday.

Dallin Hall and Jaxson Robinson scored 18 points apiece as BYU rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat seventh-ranked Kansas 76-68, ending the Jayhawks’ 19-game home winning streak in their first matchup as Big 12 foes.

Big 12 favorite TCU recorded two of the biggest wins on the opening weekend of the college baseball season.

Shahada Wells scored 17 points as No. 14 TCU beat No. 2 Kansas 83-60 in one of the worst losses in Bill Self’s 20-year coaching career with the Jayhawks.

David McCormack had 22 points and 10 rebounds to help sixth-ranked Kansas beat No. 21 Texas 70-63 to clinch the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament.
