A mother in Alvin has accused the city’s school district of mishandling an alleged violent attack against her daughter, at the hands of another student.

Matthew Marcum was beloved by the community and an athlete on his high school’s football team. His life was cut too short.

The man accused of posing as a truancy officer, abducting and sexually assaulting an Alvin High School student has been arrested, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

HOUSTON – An Alvin High School football coach resigned Thursday after players said he used the n-word and other racial slurs before a game. Just hours before last Friday night’s football game, two Alvin High School football players said a coach used derogatory terms they won’t soon forget. “I told him that wasn’t cool and then he told me, ‘Do I want to play?’ I just start walking away. A spokeswoman for the Alvin Independent School District said the school district has launched an investigation and a staff member has been placed on administrative leave, though the district did not name the employee. They work hard and they go to practice every day and for him to downgrade them like that it’s just horrible,” said April Bell, the players' mother.

ALVIN, Texas – An Alvin High School student is getting a lot of attention for bringing her soccer talents to the football field. Erin Webster was the kicker for Alvin's varsity football team in the Yellowjackets' 50-14 win over Pasadena on Friday. Webster tore her ACL in May and recently recovered from surgery. Webster is a standout on the soccer field. She is a three-time varsity Letterman and has received multiple scholarship offers.
