GALVESTON, Texas – The Galveston Independent School District announced Tuesday that all staff members could now get their COVID-19 vaccine. According to a news release, the Moderna vaccine will be available at the on-campus Teen Health Centers. The vaccine is open to all staff members as well as students over 18 who have medical conditions. There are Teen Health Centers at five of the 12 Galveston ISD campuses. “We’ll visit all campuses and then plans are to offer our Teen Health Center sites as distribution clinics for the public.”According to the release, the vaccines will also be distributed by the Teen Health Center to those schools that do not have a center for on-site appointments.

GALVESTON, Texas – One of the latest shipments of COVID-19 vaccines will soon be administered inside Galveston’s Ball High School. The non-profit Teen Health Center operates a clinic at the school and plans to start vaccinating school workers and certain students on Tuesday. “The Teen Health Center is uniquely qualified to give these vaccines to the staff because we are right in the schools,” said executive director Angie Brown. The center received 100 doses of the Moderna vaccine last week, but schools were closed for spring break. “Teachers don’t have to take time off of work to go to find a place to make an appointment,” said Brown.

HOUSTON – Galveston Independent School District will offer access to rapid COVID-19 tests to symptomatic students and staff. The tests will allow them to test students and staff members at schools with Teen Health Center facilities. There are five Teen Health Center Facilities within Galveston ISD. Brown said the rapid COVID-19 tests are 98% accurate and are available within 15 minutes of taking the test. Rudolph said about 20 rapid COVID-19 tests were performed Thursday.
