U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani will join leaders from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to announce Thursday several arrests related to drug and gang activity in the Houston area.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Flores,” Mayor Randy Chronister said in a statement. “We commend his bravery and commitment to protecting our community, and we remain steadfast in our support for all our law enforcement personnel.”

It's unclear which department the officer worked for and how the shooting unfolded, but investigators were able to capture the gunman shortly after a chase.

The investigation, led by Chambers County Deputies and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, uncovered $347,000 worth of stolen equipment, including excavators and trailers.

With a total of 275 arrests made, the event garnered attention for its high number of incidents.

Galveston County sheriffs and state troopers responded to the incidents, and one suspect has been taken into custody.
