Authorities say a major natural gas leak has forced the closure of an intersection in Baytown.

A hazmat incident has shut down the emergency room at Houston Methodist Hospital in Baytown Friday afternoon, officials with Baytown Fire said.

Crews are responding Wednesday afternoon to a major gas leak in Baytown, officials said.

BAYTOWN, Texas – The Coast Guard, Baytown Fire Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Houston Police Department have suspended the search for a boat carrying seven people in Cedar Bayou, just west of the U.S. Highway 146 bridge near Baytown. Watchstanders issued a search with an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Station Houston 29-foot response boat crew to search the area.
