The National Weather Service has determined that an EF-1 tornado was the cause that damaged several homes in a Cypress area neighborhood in May.

Class 6A Region II, Division II seems like it’s Rockwall-Heath’s to lose. Coming from the top side of the bracket could be Bridgeland, who gets super QB Conner Weigman back but they would have to beat either Cedar Park or Garland.

HOUSTON - There were a plethora of huge games across the Greater Houston Area on Friday night.

All eyes were on Bridgeland Thursday night as the Berry Center lights spotlighted many Bear athletes' varsity debut in a scrimmage against Katy Tompkins.

With a 31-7 overall record and an 82% win percentage, the Lady Yellowjackets haven't shown any doubt. Rockwall is used to showing nearly flawless defense against their opponents- holding them to less than 90 runs all season while their bats have maintained momentum; outscoring their opponents by over 240 runs.

HOUSTON - Robert Postell has been flying high this season.

CYPRESS, Texas – The newest addition to a master-planned community is officially underway in the Cypress area, according to the Bridgeland Development Company’s website. According to the website, Prairieland Village is the newest phase of development and is the third of four villages that have been planned for the Bridgeland community. Prairieland Village will feature a “diverse mix of housing products and prices and will add approximately 7,000 homesites to Bridgeland’s growing community,” according to the website. The new addition to the community will also provide a “walkable, interconnected community that encourages a healthy and active lifestyle” with features like hiking and biking trails, an activity complex and lakes designed for recreational activity. The community also has Parkland Village, which has a 25-acre park that features a “lazy river, leisure pool with beach entry, rope swing, lap pool, playground, sprayground, tennis courts, open play field, basketball court, dog park, kayak launch, and hike and bike trails.”For more information about the community, visit the Bridgeland website.

Bridgeland was going to be one of "those teams" to watch in 2020. They were in just year two of being a varsity program and had the pieces to put it all together. Kylee Gibson (University of Houston), Brodie Quinlan (Sam Houston State), Jaelyn Simmons (University of St. Thomas), and Lindsey Polleschultz (Mary Hardin Baylor) will be the senior corps to lead the group. CYPRESS, Texas A construction worker was killed on site Thursday after an 8-foot trench collapsed in a neighborhood in Cypress, officials said. Cy-Fair firefighters responded to a rescue at Bridgeland subdivision near Parkland Trail Crossing and Summit Point Crossing. The rescue efforts turned into a recovery after the worker was pronounced dead. The victims identity has not been released.

When you look at a team that finished 16th overall at state last year but brings back everyone, that excites you. An experienced senior group is back, headed by Addison Stevenson, who finished ninth overall with a time of 18:06.58. If Tompkins can push a few more girls into the Top 30 spots, they could contend for a higher team finish. The team finished 13th overall at last year's state meet but do return some experience. OTHERS TO WATCH: Huffman FalconsHuffman finished ninth overall at the UIL State Cross Country meet last year. They do lose two senior runners but return three more harriers with experience.

While it's tough to be elite at two different sports these days, Bridgeland's Conner Weigman is the exception. As 2019 District 14-6A Newcomer on the Year as the quarterback of the Bears, Weigman threw for over 2,500 yards and rushed for another 700 yards. On the diamond, Weigman was just named the Offensive MVP of the #PudgeWorldClassic for the Twelve Baseball showcase organization. Bridgeland made history on the football field, going 8-3, finishing second in district play and reaching the postseason. With two years of prep sports still ahead of him, Weigman is going to become a household name in Houston.
