HOUSTON – COVID-19 quarantined our Test it Tuesday segment for about four months of 2020, so we tested far fewer products than we traditionally do. From the standouts to the screw-ups, here are the products we tested that are worth your money and the ones you should avoid. Of the 16 products we tested, nine failed. The seven that passed may help make your life a little easier. The products that flopped

EZ Eggs claims it can peel up to three eggs in under 10 seconds. Product: EZ EggsPrice: $9.88 at WalmartClaim: “Peels up to three eggs in under 10 seconds”"The Miracle egg stripper that shakes the shells right off of them." Once the eggs were room temperatures, Amy filled the EZ Eggs pod with water to the marked water line and dropped all of the eggs inside. When she removed the top, she noticed the eggs were cracked, but all of the shells were still on the eggs. EZ Eggs says it works best with freshly boiled eggs.

It happened to Houstonian Kelly Keenan when he booked a 5-star Galveston bayfront beach house through VRBO for his extended family over the holidays. Property management company Vacasa told Keenan the property owner wanted the beach house for his own use. Out of frustration, Keenan did some digging and found the name and contact information for the man who owns the beach house. You have no way to know if the owner of the property you’re booking has canceled on prior customers. Homeowners or property managers who repeatedly cancel reservations may be removed from the site.”Two months after Keenan’s canceled reservation, we found the same property still listed on VRBO.

HOUSTON – To rinse or not to rinse: What do you do before you load your dirty dishes in the dishwasher? “I rinse my dishes and then wash them, and then sometimes put them in the dishwasher.” Helen Romero“I rinse my dishes,” another woman named Becky told consumer expert Amy Davis. We poured spaghetti sauce in a dish and baked it. We loaded all of the dishes in a dishwasher, along with a waterproof camera so you can see what happens. There was no trace of that spaghetti sauce or the dried cheese dip.

When we did this, the site told us we could expect about $13,200 for the 2015 Audi A4 as a trade-in. When a KPRC 2 employee drove his car over, he checked in and waited about 45 minutes before a Carmax employee offered him $13,000. Take it to a DealershipArmed with the information you have already gathered, you can now take your trade-in to a dealership where you plan to purchase your vehicle. When they tell you how much they will give you for your trade-in, you will already know if you can do better. In this scenario, you can likely make the most money, but there are a few more hassles.

In this segment, we’re talking about financing and a Houston woman who claims one dealership switched her lender without her knowledge. She then took the preapproval letter to Joe Myers Toyota. Williams believes Joe Myers gave her loan to Capital One instead of her credit union because the dealership received more money from Capital One in incentives. - If you secure financing or plan to use a bank or credit union to finance a vehicle, do all of the paperwork with that lender.
