University of Houston Board of Regents chairman Tilman Fertitta spoke with KPRC Channel 2 on Wednesday about the opportunity for Houston. ESPN conducted an anonymous survey of Big 12 coaches having them choose their top two candidates, not currently in a Power 5 conference, for expansion. For some reason they want to hold the eyeballs against us like they already own them in the Big 12, which I think the SEC does. "I don't care if there is 2 or 4, I just want the University of Houston in," Fertitta added.

The class, which is comprised of 20 high school athletes, five junior college transfers and one four-year transfer, is one that leaves Houston head coach Tony Levine elated. "This is a class that we are excited about as it meets our needs in all areas. Houston signed one player each from the states of Florida, Kansas and New York. With signing day complete, Houston now turns its attention to spring practice, which begins on Monday, March 4.

At this time, medical information and status can only be provided by an attending physician from Memorial Hermann Hospital. UH officials tell KPRC Local 2 they will pass on updates as they receive them. Hayden has had a productive 2012 season recently being named CUSA's Defensive Player of the Week honors for his 2 interception performance against the UTEP Miners.

The Cougars' 49-28 loss Saturday in its Conference USA Championship game against Southern Miss was a shocking end to and otherwise flawless regular season. A record crowd packed Robertson Stadium and at times provided an electric atmosphere in the first half. That was before the Cougars allowed a 21 point third quarter by the Golden Eagles, sending many fans headed towards the exits. The season isn't completely over, but hopes for a spot in the Sugar Bowl are all but gone.
