A second person has now been charged for their alleged involvement in the deadly shooting of Deputy Fernando Esqueda last week.

A deputy was shot and grazed in the head by a bullet Tuesday night while attempting to conduct a traffic stop in northwest Harris County.

The suspect believed to have shot and injured a total of three law enforcement officials was arrested in northeast Harris County after an hours-long standoff.

The 29-year-old Harris County deputy who was shot while conducting a traffic stop has been identified. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared an image on Twitter/X of the deputy and identified him as Joseph Anderson.

An off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy has died after he was shot while trying to stop suspects from stealing his catalytic converter during a trip to the grocery store Thursday night, according to officials.
