A 19-year-old burglar caught on camera taking more than half a million dollars worth of jewelry from stores in Houston is behind bars.

Diamonds made by scientists in a lab are often a much less expensive option for consumers and more readily available than diamonds that have to be mined.

The 72-year-old man said surveillance video showed the thief walking right out of the front door and driving off after stealing several gems, diamonds and rings worth about $1 million.
