While Abrams season was cut short because of an injury, Tennessee first-round defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons started late because of one. Simmons recovered in time to play nine games of the regular season and three playoff games. He showed flashes as a rookie with 59 catches for 680 yards and five TDs despite substandard quarterback play from Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges.

The people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Saturday because the team hadn't announced Mosley's decision. Mosley joins a growing list of players who are choosing to not play this season if there is a season amid concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. The Jets also have veteran Avery Williamson returning from a torn ACL that sidelined him for all of last season. But Mosley's decision to opt out will likely mean Williamson will remain on the roster and likely take over as the signal-calling quarterback on defense.
