Rodeo officials announced the new dates for the 2021 Barbecue Contest and the month-long livestock show and rodeo. The contest will be on Feb. 25 through 27 and the 2021 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will start on March 2 and will run through March 21. Days after opening, the 2020 event was called off due to the imminent threat of the coronavirus pandemic in the Houston area. I am incredibly thankful to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Executive Committee for the opportunity to serve this organization for the past 15 years, seven as president and CEO, said Cowley.

Read full article: CEO and President Joel Cowley is leaving Houston Livestock Show and RodeoHOUSTON – The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Tuesday announced CEO and President Joel Cowley is leaving the organization after 15 years to pursue an opportunity in the agricultural industry. “I am incredibly thankful to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Executive Committee for the opportunity to serve this organization for the past 15 years, seven as president and CEO,” said Cowley. “In doing so, I hope to provide the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with an even better story to tell about advancements in the critically important field of agriculture.”Cowley’s last day is May 22. Chris Boleman has been named the new rodeo CEO and president, and will assume the role on Monday, May 25. In 2019, Boleman took a lead role in the reorganization structure of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Meet the new grand marshals:Ben Dickerson, 1957 scholar, FFA Scholarship Dickerson was the first Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship recipient in 1957. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and his doctorate from Louisiana State University. He is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and currently serves as director of Clinical Operations for Ranch Hand Rescue Human and Animal Sanctuary. Yuselmy Garza, 2010, Metropolitan Scholarship & 2013 Achievement Scholarship Garza currently serves as a project manager at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
