SAN ANTONIO – Animal care specialists from Sea World San Antonio rescued 13 endangered green turtles who were cold-stunned due to swimming in colder waters outside Corpus Christi, KSAT reported. Chuck Cureau, Sea World San Antonio’s marketing leader told KSAT the temperature at the Gulf of Mexico dipped colder than average, which would have put the turtles through hypothermia, limiting their ability to swim away from predators and boats. The team at Sea World San Antonio actively monitors air and water temperatures along the Texas coast which is determined when they aid in animal search and rescue, Cureau said. Once the turtles receive proper care at Amos Rehabilitation Keep, they were safely released to the coast, KSAT reported.

Police said swarms of bees have spread through the downtown area. Officials said the rollover occurred just before 11 a.m. on the Interstate 10 West offramp to Eastbound I-35. Another truck, which was hauling the bee boxes, was also involved in the incident but did not flip over, according to San Antonio police.

The fountain will have its future home at Klyde Warren Park, a privately-funded park near Downtown Dallas. The fountain, once complete, will bring visitors and their children a place to spend time outdoors and have a splash at the interactive splash pad. SAN ANTONIO – A redesign effort at the San Antonio Zoo allowed its rhinos to roam freely around the Savanna habitat with other species, KSAT reported. This was the first time in the Zoo’s 106-year history that the Savanna exhibits were merged together, allowing animals -- including rhinos, giraffes and zebras -- to roam thanks to the Savanna Crossing, according to a release posted on the zoo’s Facebook page. SAN ANTONIO – A tiny kitten with no ears or tail found abandoned behind a San Antonio car dealership has found his forever home thanks to the San Antonio Humane Society, KSAT reported. In September, Humane Society staff found the kitten, later named Gunner and later found that he was in an “urgent need of love and extra care" after finding that his ears and tail were purposely cut off before he was left behind, according to KSAT. The San Antonio Humane Society gave Gunner extensive treatment such as laser therapy for an easier healing process to treat his wounds, according to a YouTube video published in October. “[Thor] is doing great at his new home,” a spokesperson forr the humane society told KSAT. “We have followed up with his adopter and his new mom shared that he is living the best kitten life.”The new mom renamed the kitten “Thor” and has a sister named Loki, who was also adopted from the humane society, KSAT reported.

H-E-B employees are being awarded for their hard work yet again. According to KSAT, KPRC’s sister station, H-E-B is awarding all of its partners with $500 bonuses as a thank you for facing “each obstacle with grace, compassion, strength, and resilience” in 2020. The Texas-based company notified KSAT regarding the bonuses on Wednesday and said all full-time and part-time H-E-B employees will receive the bonus via direct deposit on Friday. For the first time in 30 years, visitors can kayak through a portion of the San Antonio Riverwalk, KPRC’s sister station, KSAT reports. During the two-hour experience, kayakers will be able to explore the business district portion along the River Walk. The experience is available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in October from 8 to 11 a.m. Visitors who chose to launch their own kayak are still required to make a reservation. According to KSAT, a portion of the funds from the kayaking reservations will go to the San Antonio River Walk Association to help fund future events.

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A San Antonio-area bus driver is retiring with a perfect record. Raul Chapa has recorded more than 3 million miles and 41 years of service with San Antonio’s VIA Metropolitan Transit, KSAT reported. “A couple of days after his passing, I woke up one night and said ‘life’s too short,’” Chapa told KSAT. The National Safety Council awarded him the “Three Million Mile” Award, for his perfect driving record, with no incidents or accidents during his transportation career, KSAT reported. “Because God was my copilot, it was simple and the next thing, I worked for a company that is outstanding,” Chapa told KSAT.

SAN ANTONIO – Cars, trucks, and motorcycles are encouraged to attend a San Antonio-based convoy this weekend in honor of Vanessa Guillen, KSAT reported. The #IAmVanessaGuillen convoy will take place Saturday and all vehicles, including vehicle clubs are invited, according to a Facebook event of the same name. Attendees without a vehicle are also invited to join. The event was created to honor Guillen and other service members who suffered from sexual assault or harassment, KSAT reported. Over 200 attendees are expected to participate this Saturday, and strict COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, according to the Facebook event.

SAN ANTONIO – Another H-E-B partner has tested positive for COVID-19, according to H-E-B store officials. According to KSAT, officials reported the employee worked at the location at 9255 FM 471 West, near the Grissom and Tezel intersection. This is the second employee who has tested positive for the virus in San Antonio, an H-E-B spokesperson told KSAT. Another case was announced Saturday afternoon and the company says the COVID-19 positive partner works at the H-E-B Plus store, located on Bandera Road at Loop 1604 in San Antonio. H-E-B also confirmed that an employee at the store on the Northwest Freeway and Barker Cypress in Cypress had also tested positive for COVID-19.

Everlywell, an Austin-based digital health company, is providing an at-home collection kit with telehealth diagnosis for COVID-19 that will become available Monday, March 23. In a statement, the company announced it will be able to provide an initial supply of 30,000 tests. Prices for Everlywell at-home test kits typically range from $39 for an HIV test to $399 for a Women’s Health test. The COVID-19 at-home test will be available for $135 at no profit to Everlywell. According to a report by USA Today, it is the founder’s goal to offer the diagnosis test for COVID-19 at no cost.

(KSAT) – An individual who was released from isolation on Saturday is being retested for the coronavirus at a local health facility, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, the patient later returned to isolation after a pending lab test came up positive for the virus that causes COVID-19, according to the CDC. The patient was under isolation while being treated at the local medical facility for several weeks after returning from Wuhan, China, on a state department chartered flight, the CDC says. The patient did have contact with others while outside of isolation, and health officials are working to trace others that may have been exposed. Please do not delay any longer and risk local transmission.”This is a developing story.

Bon Appetit recently wrote a feature entirely about H-E-B tortillas calling them “the best supermarket-brand tortilla out there," and for good reason. KSAT reached out to H-E-B and a spokesperson confirmed “stores frequently provide samples for a variety of products, including tortillas from our bakery.”Even more good news? In regard to the tortillas, the spokesperson told KSAT, “We are pretty good at predicting sales and demand so this product rarely has excess on a daily basis.
