Drivers headed toward downtown Houston may need to find another route after an 18-wheeler hit an overpass bridge in the Heights.

Based on preliminary evidence, police said the driver was not wearing their seatbelt and died upon impact after he went flying through the windshield.

Houston police say it's unclear what led up to the crash and due to how badly the car was burned, they're unable to make out who the driver is.

Court records say Dionate Banks, 31, shot Gregory Shead in the back during a fight and afterward "took to social media to claim the killing was in self-defense" and in an interview with HPD "made up facts about the incident because he did not realize it had been captured on video."
