The 19-year-old student was suspended in September after a Katy ISD police and a K-9 found a substance they believed to be marijuana in Bronson’s vehicle during a search of the Katy H.S. But in a letter dated September 28, less than two weeks after the incident, the Katy ISD superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski appeared to clear McClelland of any wrongdoing. A spokesperson for Katy ISD would not answer questions about the case.

At Katy High School, the Tigers have a storied history with seven state championships. Katy reached the 6A title game in 2013 and again in 2014 but both ended with emotional losses to Cedar Hill. The Tigers have the talent again to make another run, and KPRC Channel 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy has more on the Tigers as they opened workouts Monday.

The football team arrived in fire trucks and the Tigers mascot even arrived by helicopter. "It's a different year and a different team, at the same time, they are a good football team," said Tigers head coach Gary Joseph. "They've had a good football team. "There's no greater place in the United States or in Texas for you to raise your son to play football, there football program is number one," said parent James Phillip.
