This Memorial Day weekend is expected to be the busiest in two years as 34.9 million people plan to hit the road, with 2.8 million of those drivers right here in Texas. Those numbers are up around 5% compared to last year, according to AAA Texas.

HOUSTON – Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said he is disappointed after seeing photos and videos of large crowds at bars, clubs and businesses in Houston during the Memorial Day weekend. Turner recommends residents that were not participating in social distancing or wearing masks while at crowded gatherings get tested for COVID-19. “(If) you have been around people, my advice is to go get tested,” Turner said during a press conference Sunday. Photos and video of Memorial Day weekend celebrations across the US showed plenty of people going to the beach and gathering on boardwalks, but not a lot of social distancing or masks. The event had already been heavily promoted on social media and large crowds still descended on the city bringing chaos in their wake. Aerial videos of the large crowd show people tightly packed together with no social distancing practices apparent. In Texas, four parks in Travis County closed after reaching capacity, according to CNN affiliate KEYE. In Playa Del Rey, California, the beach wasn't packed but cyclists made good use of the path with masks to boot.

HOUSTON – Social media is reacting this weekend after videos show a jammed packed pool party in Houston. HOUSTON – The body of a man was found in Lake Conroe Saturday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Precinct 1. Investigators said around 4 p.m., a group of friends was on a boat just off East Beach on Lake Conroe. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lake Patrol unit responded along with the Game Wardens, Conroe Fire, and NMC Fire. However, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of side-scan sonar for the boat. In about an hour, officials said they were able to find the victim’s body in shallow water.
