JERSEY VILLAGE, Texas – A man who had been paroled in late June was shot by a Jersey Village police officer Thursday after hitting the officer with a stolen car, officials said.
According to Jersey Village Police Chief Kirk Riggs, officers located a stolen vehicle at the convenience store and Holmes accelerated as officers were moving in on the car.
Riggs said the vehicle hit one of the officers and that officer fired through the windshield, hitting Holmes in a shoulder and his right hand.
Riggs said Holmes was paroled on June 30 and has an extensive rap sheet, including burglary, evading arrest, drug and firearm possession charges.
The officer who was hit by the vehicle was not seriously injured, officials said.
