The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards could be one of the first ceremonies that will not be held virtually amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Andrew Cuomo announced that the VMAs are to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, with limited or no audience present on Sunday, Aug. 30.
The 2020 MTV VMAs will be the first Barclays Center event since the COVID-19 pandemic reached New York, said Oliver Weisberg, CEO of Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets.
Just this weekend, both the Daytime Emmy Awards and the BET Awards aired virtual ceremonies.
