Richy Werenski also shot a 65 and moved within a shot of the lead on the Stadium Course at PGA West near Palm Springs. Finau and Kim both shot 67. Kim was bogey-free, while the streakier Finau bounced back from a double bogey on the 13th with three consecutive birdies. Precipitation finally fell in earnest when the final group reached the 18th hole, with Finau and Kim forced to pull out their umbrellas.

It was a quiet day of work, typical for the PGA Tour with no spectators allowed in the return from the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. For the first time in 63 years, the PGA Tour will have tournaments on the same course in consecutive weeks. The second week at Muirfield Village the Memorial was supposed to be the first with fans since the PGA Tour returned June 11. He used PGA Tour winner Marc Turnesa as a caddie for this week, which might be a short week.
