Sumlin met with the media and answered questions from the crowd at the annual luncheon. As expected, Sumlin mentioned the race for a starting quarterback is still ongoing as they move through the summer and approach fall camp. Sumlin acknowledged there was serious discussion about turning to Nick Starkel last season when starter Trevor Knight was injured and newcomer Kellen Mond is on the top recruits in the country. Sumlin also thinks the defense has plenty on board to recover from and replace what they lost with elite pass rushers Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall.
