Tillie Claggett, a junior at The John Cooper School, was the girl's tournament champion of the St. John's Invitational at Westwood Golf Club on March 8. "It was special because I haven't played a tournament since December," Claggett said, referring to her participation in the Volunteers of America LPGA Classic. "I took a few weeks off, then sprained my ankle, for an unplanned six weeks off, which to my surprise was a positive thing." "Tillie had a fantastic tournament, shooting an extremely impressive 67," Rod Gold, head golf coach for Cooper said. AdThe Dragon varsity golf team heads to Panorama Golf Club on March 26-27 to compete in the Conroe Invitational.

The John Cooper School girls basketball team went 7-1 in conference play to capture the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) South Zone Championship, the best finish in school history. This season, the SPC restricted travel due to the pandemic, limiting competitions to South and North zones. I know it was important to our team to finish out the season winning our final two games," said BJ Feuerhelm, Head Coach for the Dragon girls basketball program said. "In accomplishing this goal, we set a new conference record for any Cooper girls basketball team." "The varsity girls basketball team should be incredibly proud of their accomplishment," said John Hoye, Director of Athletics for The John Cooper School.

The John Cooper School has played some solid football throughout the start of the season. The Dragons continued that on Friday with a 55-0 victory over Bay Area Christian pushing their record to 4-0 on the year. VYPE caught up with Peterson for the 411 on the star from The John Cooper School. VYPE: Who has been your biggest influence in your sporting life? Peterson: My biggest influence in sports has definitely been Tim Tebow. VYPE: What has been your greatest high school memory so far? Peterson: My best high school memory was our 4th quarter comeback on Senior Night last season.

The 2020 football season is going to start a little later than many thought for The John Cooper School. The Dragons are slated to open their season on October 2 against Lutheran South, which will pit two solid quarterbacks against each other. So, what do the players think about the upcoming season?
