CLEVELAND, Texas The bodies of two teens who jumped into the Trinity River to save a child and her father were found Monday, authorities said.
Authorities said the 5-year-old and her father were playing in the water when the child started struggling, so her father tried to save her.
According to Captain Ken DeFoor, the 17 and 18-year-old jumped in the water when they realized the man and his daughter were struggling.
The little 5-year-old girl got into trouble in the water and father went after her, rescued her and, at the time, two good Samaritans tried to assist also, DeFor said.
During this process, the father ingested some water (and) we had to send life flight he was transported to a Houston hospital but, unfortunately, the two good Samaritans ... went under.Their bodies were recovered Monday morning, according to authorities.
