Alvin ISD leaders are working tirelessly to ensure that students can return to class next week after an EF-2 tornado caused significant damage to Walt Disney Elementary School.

A tornado with winds up to 125 mph severely damaged Walt Disney Elementary School in Alvin ISD, leading Mayor Kevin Cole to organize a supply drive for recovery efforts.

Parts of Alvin are still reeling from the aftermath of a powerful EF-2 tornado that struck the area on Saturday.

“While this news breaks our hearts, we are incredibly thankful that all children and staff were safe and not on campus during the storm,” Alvin ISD officials said. "As we work toward recovery, we are asking for your support."
