HOUSTON – A car split in half in a deadly accident in northwest Houston Wednesday night, police said. (KCBD) – A Lubbock firefighter and police officer are dead and one firefighter remains in critical condition after they were struck by a vehicle while working a wreck on Saturday morning. The officer and firefighter who died have been identified as 27-year-old Nicholas Reyna with LPD and the firefighter was 39-year-old Lt. and Paramedic Eric Hill. The firefighter who is in critical condition has been identified as 30-year-old Matt Dawson. While working the crash, a second vehicle traveling southbound on I-27 crossed over into the median. SAN LUIS POTOSI, MEXICO – A child, identified as Albert Castanon, 10, is among the two people who reportedly died in a bus crash Saturday near San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the family said. Alvardo claims Castanon’s mother traveled to San Luis Potosi to identify her son’s body and to began preparing funeral arrangements. According to Mexican media outlets, two people were killed, and at least ten people were injured when a bus traveling from Houston to Mexico crashed at about 9 a.m. due to inclement weather. The bus departed Houston Friday from the Transportes Chavez bus station at 606 Dell Court in north Houston. "It was really bad.”The injured passengers were moved to hospitals with the help of Mexico’s national guard, according to the Consulate General of Mexico.

COLDSPRING – San Jacinto County officials and deputies are mourning the loss of deputy Bryan Pfluger Sunday morning after he was killed in a car crash Saturday night. State troopers said Pfluger hit another patrol vehicle while responding to a burglary call. During the crash, the deputy was thrown from his vehicle, according to DPS. Pfluger was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to DPS. The deputy in the other patrol car did not suffer visible injuries in the crash but was transported to an area hospital as a precaution, according to DPS.

HOUSTON – A crash that shut down Interstate 10 West near Sealy claimed the life of a Houston police officer, who officials say was driving the wrong way on the highway when she slammed into a big rig. Gizele Solorio worked with the Houston Police Department for about 2.5 years and graduated from the cadet class 230 as the class president, according to HPD Commander Chandra Hatcher. Solorio was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10 when she was in a head-on collision with the 18-wheeler. Hatcher described Solorio as an officer who stood out. “Officer Solorio was a bright and shining star,” Hatcher said.
