Maintenance crews in many of those districts are working overtime to access the damage and begin the cleanup process. Cy-Fair, Galveston, Goose Creek, Klein and Fort Bend ISD’s are all dealing with similar situations. Fort Bend ISD hopes to resume normal operations on Monday but that decision won’t be made until Sunday night. AdFort Bend ISD hopes to have a better assessment of the damage tomorrow.

The family was reportedly using a charcoal grill to heat their apartment unit at the 8500 block of Easton Commons Drive. Officials said six people, including four children that ages range from 5 to 10 years old, were transported to the hospital. The family was reportedly burning the fire for warmth for about four hours, according to Cy-Fair Fire. These produce carbon monoxide, which is a deadly, colorless and odorless gas,” the department wrote on Twitter.

The goal of the survey was to make sure the decision-makers are keeping their safety in mind as Cy-Fair ISD leaders move forward with reopening plans. LimitationsThe surveyors had to rely on social media and word of mouth as they did not have access to contact information for CFISD staff or school staff statewide. As a result, surveyors feel they have only been able to reach a small percentage of Texas school staff and results may not reflect all perspectives. The creators of the survey said Cy-Fair ISD has done a good job so far but they need to do better.

Read full article: Cy-Fair ISD announces 2020-2021 academic calendar for students, teachersHOUSTON – The Cy-Fair ISD Board of Trustees has voted to approve a new instructional calendar for the 2020-2021 school year during its regular meeting on Jan. 16. A district-wide committee -- formed in Fall of 2019 between teachers, support staff, and campus administrators -- worked on the calendar for the school year which will begin on Aug. 24, 2020 and will conclude on May 27, 2021. State law mandated that the first day of school cannot start earlier than the fourth Monday in August, and the district must use the allotted 75,600 minutes. There will be two make-up days designated for inclement weather on Feb. 15 and May 28, 2021. The committee also recommended the following holidays for students and teachers:Sept. 4, 2020 – Labor DayNov. 23-27, 2020 – Thanksgiving BreakDec. 24, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021 – Winter BreakMarch 15-19, 2021 – Spring BreakApril.

At Texas' newest and largest high school stadium in Allen, a Dallas suburb, a custom scoreboard towers 75 feet above a new $60 million football stadium with enough room to seat 18,000 fans. The high-resolution HD screen is 38 feet wide by 23 feet tall, according to Jeff Chaney with the Allen Independent School District athletic department. Katy ISD also funds their mega screen scoreboard at Rhodes stadium with advertising dollars. "All of these are outdoor classrooms as well as football stadiums," said Debbie Decker, Katy ISD athletic director.
