For yet another season the North Shore Mustangs have punched their ticket to the state championship, and for yet another season the team standing in the way of their goal is Dallas’ own, Duncanville.

The journey to Arlington is old hat for the North Shore Mustangs and as the holidays soon arrive so too will the Mustangs at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night.

HOUSTON - The North Shore Mustangs battled past Duncanville for a third time in four seasons this past weekend inside AT&T Stadium with a 17-10 victory.

A pair of Top 10 teams lost last weekend as the VYPE Class 6A Top 20 powered by Kelly Malatesta of First United Mortgage sees some movement at the top.

Just a few months ago, Shadrach Banks and the North Shore Mustangs fell one yard short of advances to the 6A State Championship for the third consecutive year. The nucleus on that team was QB Dematrius Davis (Auburn), OL Jaeden Roberts (Alabama) and WR Shadrach Banks (Texas A&M). All three graduated earlier and were on campus this spring at their respective schools.

In the Houston-area, teams like Fort Bend Marshall, Crosby, Manvel, Clear Falls, Katy, North Shore and Ridge Point are the last teams standing. The Ridge Point Panthers began the year 0-2 with losses to Dickinson and C.E. “That’s where we turned the corner at the bye week,” said senior wide receiver John Paul Richardson, who will play at Oklahoma State next fall. The reigning state champion North Shore Mustangs came out victorious in their round three matchup against Katy Tompkins by a score of 47-22. VYPE U reporter Tommy Yarrish has the game recap.
