It’s time to pay up, buttercup! Everyone enjoyed the free ride on the new stretch of tollway of the Grand Parkway when it opened in May, but now, that free ride has come to an end.
The new 53-mile stretch will take you from the Eastex near New Caney to I-10 in Mont Belvieu and from Beach City to 146 in Baytown, and it’s going to cost you a pretty penny. The Texas Department of Transportation says drivers have an additional option that provides a means of bypassing roads that already see heavy traffic.

You’ll end up paying roughly $11 each way driving on 99 from Spring into Baytown.
Ultimately, it’s up to the driver, right, on how they opt to use the new section of Grand Parkway. If we’re talking about saving time being a main priority, well folks just have to bite the bullet and fork up the cash, just like drivers do for the Beltway, Hardy Toll, Westpark Toll etc.
Listen, I wake up with the EXACT minutes needed to get ready and drive to the Southwest part of town all the way from Cypress. I could totally use 290 and grab the West Loop, but in the morning every second counts, so the Beltway is my life saver.

Drive safely my friends :)

Airports
Arriving at Bush Airport – parking and drop-off
- If you are traveling during peak travel times, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, please build in an extra hour to your arrival time so you can comfortably get to your gate on time. There’s a lot of construction going on at the airport as they develop a new world-class international terminal.

Construction closures
We’ve received so many questions about the construction of the Gulf Freeway north of the Causeway -- mostly asking if all the lanes are now open after TXDOT closed part of I-45 to Galveston Island to repair the damaged bridge near Tiki Island. Three lanes are open in each direction on the Gulf Freeway north of the Causeway, but drivers should still expect lane restrictions before all the work is complete. One lane will be closed in each direction from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. through September 30.
