Let’s talk traffic: How much does it really cost you to speed?

No description found

Hello hello my friends! Happy Thursday! HALLELUJAH — it’s almost Friday! Now before you race into the weekend, have you ever though about how much those pedal-to-the-metal, late mornings rushing down the North Freeway cost you?

Well, according to the Zebra, once a car hits over 50 miles per hour on the highway, the gas mileage takes a plunge. Each five miles per hour over 50, will be an extra .31 cents per gallon used. With these gas prices soaring through the roof, I *literally can’t afford to be late in the mornings.

Also something worth mentioning, (and most of you may be going *duh Anavid, we know this) but when you press on the gas and pump the breaks during bumper-to-bumper traffic, that eats up your gas too. When you can, choose the smooth ride and hit the cruise control, it typically saves you about 14% on gas mileage.

Of course, cutting back on driving all together would most likely save you the most money, but for most of us that is not a viable option. So, taking it slow and easy on the highway will help you keep more of your hard-earned money in your wallet.

Drive safely my friends :)

Picking up Passengers at the Curbside

  • People picking up passengers at curbsides should wait at the cellphone  lots until the arriving passenger has gone through baggage claim and is ready at the curbside for pickup. Learn more about cellphone lots at Bush Airport here.
  • Do not park at the curbside to wait for your passenger. Idle vehicles create congestion at the curbside and backup traffic.
  • Follow roadway signage. Things are changing at IAH. Whether you have been to the airport dozens of times or are a newcomer, please slow down and read the roadway signs. You can get where you need to be by following signage.
  • Pay attention to staff directing traffic. They are there for everyone’s safety.
  • A good tip for travelers: All five terminals are connected through its subway and Skyway systems. Passengers can move to Terminals A and B for pickup to avoid heavy evening congestion at Terminals C/D/E.
