HOUSTON – Multiple eastbound lanes on Interstate-10 at Dairy Ashford were impacted for several hours Tuesday afternoon following a fatal two-vehicle crash, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal crash, which involved a heavy truck, was reported at 11:50 a.m. at 12700 Katy Freeway. The left shoulder, left lane and two center lanes were closed as law enforcement officials investigated the scene and cleared debris.

According to police, the man was driving a blue Hyundai Elantra eastbound on the Katy Freeway when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a white Freightliner truck towing a trailer in another lane. The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Freightliner truck was not injured and remained at the scene for questioning.
Police said the surviving driver did not show any signs of intoxication.
The identity of the man killed in the crash is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The investigation is ongoing.
