Today, we’re chatting about the City of Houston and the Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority team effort to do their part to build better roads for a safer commute for Houstonians who drive, walk or bike through the Memorial Heights area. A lot of work has been done to connect folks from Buffalo Bayou all the way up to White Oak Bayou on a continuous trip that is safe, especially for those who walk and bike. To learn more click here.

The Chevron Houston Marathon is happening this weekend!

  • On Sunday, thousands will flock to the streets of Houston to participate in the Chevron Houston Marathon.
  • The time limit for the Houston Chevron Marathon is six hours. Participants are not allowed on the course after the streets are reopened to vehicular traffic. Participants who fall behind pace, will be asked by the Houston Police Department to board the final SAG vans as roads reopen to vehicular traffic.
  • All roads should reopen to traffic by 2 p.m.
  • Fun note: The Memorial Park Conservancy loves their runners! If you are not participating but want to cheer on the Chevron Houston Marathoners they will have their own Hoopla Station. They encourage parking along West Memorial Loop Drive. Parking is first come, first served. Upon arrival, please use the Living Bridge to safely cross over to the Eastbound Tunnels.

Have a great weekend and drive safely my friends :)

Airports

  • According to the FAA, “... Normal air traffic operations are resuming gradually across the U.S. following an overnight outage to the Notice to Air Missions system that provides safety info to flight crews. The ground stop has been lifted. We continue to look into the cause of the initial problem.” You can read more about the chaos these flight cancellations and delays caused across the country here.
