Your weekly traffic update

(Canva)

HOUSTON – Hello and welcome back! Spring break is here! Today kicks off spring break travel, and folks should expect heavier-than-normal traffic on the roads and at our local airports. Expedia data shows flight searches for March and April travel are up 40% compared to last year.

Most Houston-area kids will be off from March 13 through 17, so popular destinations like Hermann Park and the Museum District will be packed with families. Roads within a five-mile radius will see heavier congestion, so it’s best to plan your travel ahead of time. Here are some things to keep on top of mind this spring break as you prepare your family outings.

According to the City of Houston, over 50% of reported crashes happen within five miles of home and almost 80% of crashes happen within a 15-mile distance. If you look at these locations on a map, all of these hot attractions are within a five-mile radius of each other.

This upcoming week is all about having fun, taking a break, but most importantly, staying safe.

Drive safely my friends,
