Are you taking public transit during the holidays or heading out this weekend to grab your tree just days before Christmas? Be sure to pay close attention to METRO’s Holiday schedules.

METRO Holiday Schedules
METRO Holiday Schedules are up for December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st, in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays. During that timeframe, the Park and Ride Bus will not be operating. If you decide to take the Local Bus, METRORail, METRORapid, or METRO curb2curb, you can expect service to operate on a Sunday schedule. HOV/HOT Lanes will also be closed on Christmas and the New Year holiday.

Christmas Tree Travel
If you are like me and you do everything at the last minute, you may be rushing to get a tree home. If you do have to transport a tree before Christmas, we ask that you do it safely. According to AAA, 44% of Americans who purchased a real tree in 2019 did not transport it safely. Incidents like this can result in crashes and car damage. So, let’s try to secure the joy and avoid accidents this year!
Here are my tips for transporting Holiday Trees:
- Use your own material to tie down your tree. While some tree lots may offer twine, you’ll want to use a more heavy-duty option like rope.
- Tug on the rope after securing your tree to make sure it is in place from the bottom to the top.
- ·Slow down! Higher speeds put you at higher risk for a major crash and flying trees.
