Holiday Travel Tips
Are you heading out of town to celebrate the New Year this weekend? According to the National Safety Council, 40% of fatalities involved drunk drivers during the 2021 Near Year holiday period. We all know impaired driving comes with a big price. If you do decide to celebrate with a drink or two, be sure to have a designated driver or schedule a car service ahead of time.
Here are a few tips that could help you ring in the New Year safely:
- Keep passengers busy:
Distracted driving does not always include your phone. Sometimes our loved ones can take our mind off the roads. To keep them occupied, I suggest giving them a task. Monitoring directions could be a good option. For little passengers, I recommend small puzzles and electronics.
- Pay attention to weather conditions:
Make sure you download the Storm Tracker 2 App to stay up to date on the latest weather conditions. If wet roads are expected be sure to give yourself extra time and pack your car emergency kit. You never know what could happen!
- Avoid traveling on busy days:
You’ll notice crowded roadways Dec. 28 and Dec. 30 for the New Year holiday. Try to avoid these dates or choose a travel time during the early morning hours.
Safe Travels & Happy New Year 🎉
