Spring break is almost here for many Houston families. But before you pack the car and hit the roads, there are two big closures to watch out for this weekend.

610 WEST LOOP
The 610 West Loop/ I-69 Southwest Freeway interchange project is big here in town. As road work continues, people will notice a major closure this weekend. TxDOT plans to close all southbound mainlanes of the 610 West Loop at I-69 Southwest Freeway. So, if you’re in the Galleria area to do a little shopping, the closure will start Friday, at 9 p.m. and continue through Monday, until 5 a.m.
Since this is a hot spot, drivers can expect to see police onsite to assist with traffic. Be sure to plan your route. According to TxDOT, the project is expected to be completed late this year. The idea of the project is to enhance safety and improve mobility.
610 NORTH LOOP
If you are heading out to the northern part of town you may notice heavy traffic. To conduct necessary pavement repairs all mainlanes of the 610 North Loop heading westbound from the Hard Toll Rd to I-45 will be closed. This closure will last from 9:00 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday. In addition to this closure, the 610 North Loop westbound connector ramp to I-45 southbound will also close. You can also expect to see one left lane closed on the westbound connector ramp to I-45 North.
Be sure to cruise with composure if you run into detours. TxDOT crews are working hard to make improvements. Drivers should expect delays during the closures. However, keep in mind, all closures are subject to change due to inclement weather.

- In addition to the West and North loop closures, there will be a closure on the East loop. The I-610 E. Northbound entrance ramp from Manchester St. will be closed Saturday, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
