HOUSTON – Happy 4th Houston!
This week many will be heading to Fourth of July celebrations to bring in America’s Birthday. If you’re traveling near Allen Parkway, you may have already noticed closures for Freedom Over Texas. However, that is not the only event with surrounding closures. Here are a few others around town:

Run Wild 5K
The Run Wild 5K kicks off bright and early just after 7 a.m. in Uptown Park Plaza. This fun event is something the entire family can enjoy. From exclusive finisher medals, chip timing, and treats like New Magnolia Brewing Co., there will be plenty to keep the celebration going. The races are expected to conclude by 10 a.m. Be sure to plan your route if you are heading that way!
The race route will impact the following streets:
- Uptown Park Boulevard
- Post Oak Boulevard
- South Post Oak Lane
- South Wynden Drive
- Westbriar Lane
Lindale Park 4th of July Parade
If you’re not a runner and prefer to sit back and watch the show. The Lindale Park Fourth of July Parade will start at 10 a.m. on Irvington boulevard between 610 and Cavalcade. There will be several streets impacted by the parade. To create a smooth event, Lindale Park Civic Club is urging the public not to park on streets impacted by the parade route.
Streets affected by the parade:
- Eleanor Street: West side from Fulton to Irvington
- Avenue of Oaks: From Fulton to Helmers
- Woodard Street: From Fulton to Helmers
- Kelley Street: West side from Helmers to Irvington
- Eleanor Street: East side from Robertson to Irvington
Closure:
- Irvington Boulevard: Closed 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Kingwood 4th of July Parade
Celebrations will also kick off in Kingwood for the 4th. The Fishing Rodeo will be held at 7 a.m. at the Foster’s Mill ponds at the corner of Kingwood Drive & Forest Garden. There will be a Bike Rodeo to follow at 9 a.m. at Kingwood Bible Church. Then the Kingwood 4th of July Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Creekwood Middle School and conclude at Kingwood High School.
The Parade Route will include:
- Sandy Forks Drive at Rivers Edge Trail
- West Lake Houston Parkway
- Kingwood Drive
