HCSO: Program offers compensation for crime victim funerals

An unusual tweet from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office recently got our attention. It started with the words, “Attention Funeral Homes!” Turns out Harris County is seeing more victims of crime who need help paying for funeral services for their loved ones. It’s an important offering from the Crime Victims’ Compensation Program that can help alleviate at least one burden for families already dealing with an unexpected death. This morning, several victim advocates join KPRC 2+ Now at 8 am to explain how the program works and how you can get involved.
