HOUSTON – CenterPoint Energy crews are heading to Atlanta in preparation of the city's impeding winter storm.
Nearly 60 linemen, support personnel and more than 30 trucks left for Georgia early Tuesday morning.
Georgia Power asked for assistance with their next winter storm, which is projected to bring ice and snow to the Atlanta area.
Atlanta is taking extra precaution after the winter storm last month paralyzed the city and sent them into a state of emergency.
CenterPoint lineman, Marlon Williams, is happy to volunteer.
"Well I volunteer because I know there are people out there that need help, people out there that don't have power," said Williams. "It's a good satisfaction that I get to go out there to help people restore their power."
According to CenterPoint, it only takes .25-.5 inch of ice to damage trees and power lines.
