HOUSTON – Saturday's weather took a wild turn in the Willis area, after a tornado touched down.
Tamara Young-Hector and her husband were driving on Interstate 45 when they saw a funnel in front of them.
"I couldn’t believe it," Young-Hector said. "I really didn’t think that was what was happening."
She recorded video of the twister on her cellphone as her husband drove.
"We haven’t seen anything like this in maybe 20 or 30 years," Mark Hector said.
Once the tornado touched down it snapped trees in half, knocked down power lines, flipped over RVs and ripped apart a steel facility.
"There were trees and debris falling, just flying everywhere," Young-Hector said.
Emergency crews shut down Highway 75 between Willis and New Waverly for most of the night, as Entergy crews tried to clear the downed power lines off the road.
No major injuries were reported.
A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Burleson, Brazos, Grimes, Montgomery, Walker and Washington counties until noon Sunday.
