Hotter, dustier week ahead

from Click2pins

You may have heard that June 2023 came in No. 1 -- the hottest June on record for the globe. And that is just our first month of summer!

We’ve continued with the heat wave this month, mostly from Texas to the desert Southwest, but all the way north to Utah and Oregon. This week, the High Pressure Ridge, that Heat Dome as we call it, expands east to cover even MORE of the country. I’ve drawn out below where that high is today and how it increases by Saturday:

And by Saturday:

High temperatures follow suit. You can see those darker red and pink colors expanding to the east:

Again, by Saturday those hot highs move toward Chicago!

On top of the heat, look for more dust in Texas this week, especially by Wednesday.

The upside to the dust is that it’s really squashing the Atlantic Tropical season. Tropical Storm Don in the north Atlantic is on his last legs and a spin up trying to move into the Caribbean is having trouble getting organized.

So, the heat remains hotter than ever for us and continues to do so this last full week of July and I can tell you that the first week of August doesn’t cool down any. Hang in there and stay hydrated and cool!
