Winter Weather Advisory:
The National Weather Service has put SE Texas in a winter weather advisory through 6PM Monday. Freezing rain, freezing drizzle and sleet are expected. Accumulations will vary from a glaze to up to one tenth of an inch possible. The wintry precipitation can lead to slick and icy spots especially on overpasses and bridges, so drive with caution.
Sidewalks can also get rather slippery, so walk with caution!
Wind Chill Advisory:
A wind chill advisory is in place for locations mainly north of I-10 from midnight tonight through 9AM Monday for wind chill values down to 10°. This will likely be in place again into Tuesday morning and may include Harris county.
MLK Day Monday:
Waking up to temperatures in the low 30s in Houston and areas to north of the city only in the 20s. The City of Houston postponing the MLK Day parade and MLK Boulevard trail ride because of dangerous winter weather.
The threat of freezing rain and sleet will make travel treachous at times. This forecast is highly dependent on how temperatures play out, if temperatures remain in the mid and upper-30s we’ll get a cold rain. If they cool below freezing it would create an absolute dangerous mess on the roads. We’ll keep you posted on this very important forecast element.
Tuesday morning temperatures:
The cold air just keeps coming. Tuesday morning waking up to temperatrues in the teens and twenties with the potential for feels likes temperatures to be below zero to single digits.
Wednesday morning temperatures:
The coldest air arrives Wednesday morning. These kind of temperatures will burst exposed pipes that aren’t protected.
10-Day forecast:
We get out of the 30s Wednesday afternoon. We’re tracking another cold front Friday of next week. This will bring more freezing temperatures next weekend, so keep the pipes insulated!
