HOUSTON – I hope you enjoyed the near 70-degree temperatures on Friday afternoon because a cold front is ushering in a big change for the weekend. Expect an almost 20-degree temperature difference from Friday’s to Saturday’s high temperatures.
After sunset Friday, the cold front moves into southeast Texas and clears the coast around midnight.
Behind the cold front, high pressure will help clear skies but keep winds out of the north on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday winds gust near 30 mph, adding to the winter feel.
Sunday morning is likely the coldest period over the weekend despite winds losing strength, but there will be enough wind to make it feel like the low and mid-30s.
Eventually, high-pressure slides east, cutting off the cold air and welcoming a southerly wind that will set the stage for a major warm-up heading into President’s Day and the start of the Houston Rodeo.
