HOUSTON – A line of storms that developed up near the Dallas area earlier Thursday is starting to move into Southeast Texas.
This is the first of what could be two rounds for the Houston area with a second line moving through Friday.
9:30 p.m. - The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been allowed to expire. Storms continue to push southeast. Gusty winds and heavy rainfall continues with these storms.
9 p.m. - Our storm appears to have strengthened in the wind department for the time being. Thus, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, and Chambers Counties until 9:30 p.m. Main threat is 60 mph wind gusts.
8:50 p.m. - Our strong storm continues to move across the northern part of Harris County. Gusty winds and small hail continue to be the primary threat. The storm will move southeastward, impacting areas on the east side of Houston and Harris County. Places like Kingwood, Atascocita, over to Crosby and eventually Channelview are in line for this storm.
8:15 p.m. - Strong storms are about to enter the northern part of Harris County. Thankfully, the Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been allowed to expire. Gusty winds, small hail, and a lot of lightning will still be an issue with this storm. Areas like Spring, Klein, over to Humble and Aldine will be impacted by this storm.
7:45 p.m. - A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Grimes and Montgomery Counties. This includes the City of Conroe. The warning lasts until 8:15 p.m. Main threats continue to be quarter size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
7:15 p.m. - Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Grimes, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, and Walker counties until 7:45 p.m. Main threats are quarter sized hail and 60 mph winds. The warning has since expired.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch that was to the north of the Houston area has also been extended south to include Harris and Montgomery Counties. It runs until 9 p.m.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Brazos, Grimes, Madison, Montgomery, Trinity, and Walker Counties until 7:30 p.m. Main threat will be 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail.
