The latest on Beryl:
For the first time since Wednesday, Beryl’s track remained consistent. There are no major changes to landfall forecast or strength.
Where Beryl is headed:
Beryl is zeroing in on Matagorda Bay. Below are three different looks at where Beryl should ultimately end up. With it this close to land, there is a lot of agreement in the data. Beryl will arrive as a hurricane early Monday morning. The category will be a 1 or a 2. There is a 10% it hits has a category 3.
Coastal Impacts:
A hurricane warning and storm surge warning are in effect. Life threatening winds as well as storm surge will happen. Please take these warnings seriously!
When the winds arrive and how strong they’ll be where you live:
Tropical storm forces winds arrive at 2pm Sunday along the coast. These winds will get stronger with Beryl’s arrival Monday morning. Tropical storm winds start at 39 mph and go up to 74. If you are inland the below graphics show how strong the winds will be where you live.
Flood watch for most of SE Texas:
The rain we received Saturday was not from Beryl but from summertime storms. Be prepared for outer rain bands to move in Sunday afternoon and bring tropical rains from Beryl. 5-10″ of rain is possible causing street, bayou, stream and creek flooding. Please adjust your plans late Sunday and Monday accounting for this threat.
