Friday’s Forecast:
We have a 60% chance for storms on Friday. These storms could bring frequent lightning strikes and heavy downpours! Temperatures climb to the upper 80s because of the clouds and rain.
The front will stall:
A front is expected to stall in SE Texas, increasing rain chances Friday and continuing into the weekend. I wouldn’t cancel any plans this weekend but do know that you’ll need to check the radar before you head out. If there is a washout, it would be Monday. A flood threat for all of SE Texas is in place that day.
Tracking the tropics:
There is no tropical activity in the Gulf, Caribbean or Atlantic Ocean. The Saharan dust has been very heavy across much of the tropical Atlantic and that is keeping things very quiet.
Another factor in keeping the tropics quiet is huge plums of Saharan dust that are helping to snuff out any development from tropical waves at this point.
10-day Forecast:
We have heavy downpours likely from Friday to Wednesday with on-and-off periods of heavy rain. This rainfall can lead to street flooding. The increase in rain means lower than normal temperatures.
