SE Texas will see scattered to widespread rain starting Monday

Monday’s Forecast:

Showers and storms begin to form along the coast Monday morning. Monday evening, a line of storms will develop north of I-10.

Stormy Pattern Continues:

Monday is not the only day you’ll want to give yourself extra time to get to and from work. A cold front that will stall across SE Texas will bring more widespread rain and thunderstorm activity Tuesday through Thursday.

The stalled front will help bring waves of rain and thunderstorms, which could dump over 5 inches of rain over the next 7 days. Heavy downpours may lead to street flooding.

Some areas could pick up over 5 inches of rain over the next 7 days.

Tuesday and Wednesday SE Texas is included 2/4 for flood risk.

Tracking the tropics:

There is no tropical activity in the Gulf, Caribbean or Atlantic Ocean. The Saharan dust has been very heavy across much of the tropical Atlantic and that is keeping things very quiet.

Another factor in keeping the tropics quiet is huge plums of Saharan dust that are helping to snuff out any development from tropical waves at this point.
