HOUSTON – The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a cluster of storms that has a 70% chance of development over the next 7 days.
RELATED: Friday and Saturday could bring heat alerts
Our disorganized cluster of thunderstorms is currently by the Dominican Republic and moving west-northwest. Development will be slow over the next few days as it will have a lot of land interaction and it’s moving pretty quick.
After the storms pass Cuba and enter the Eastern Gulf, it will be in an area very favorable for development. We will likely have a tropical depression by late this weekend.

All of our models have it impacting Florida. No models have this coming to Texas.
Long range models are showing the high pressure cell in Texas backing off towards New Mexico this weekend. In addition, a front will stall across Georgia which should tug at “Debby” and push the storms towards NW Florida by Sunday.
Florida, SE Georgia and coastal South Carolina can expect to see heavy rainfall from this storm starting Sunday and lasting through Thursday of next week. Some models have widespread 6″+.
