HOUSTON – Track showers in real time Sunday:
Sunday keeping an eye on a stationary boundary that will spark spotty showers and isolated storms.
Here’s the timeline:
Sunday will be HOT! Afternoon temperatures climb to the upper-90s in Houston with a heat index of 105°.
Drinking water throughout the day promotes BETTER:
- Hydration
- Sleep
- Digestion
- Energy levels
Tips from Catherine Kruppa, a Registered Dietitian in Houston:
- Aim to drink ½ of your body weight in fluid ounces of hydrating fluid (decaffeinated and non-alcoholic) daily.
- Foods with a high water content are great to eat during these hot summer days to help keep you hydrated.
- Some of the highest water-containing foods include watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, oranges, cucumber, and lettuce!
Tracking the tropics:
The National Hurricane Center upgraded Tropical Depression 4 to Tropical Storm Debby Saturday evening.
Landfall as a Category 1 hurricane is possible in the Big Bend of Florida on Monday afternoon. However, impacts will be felt throughout Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas next week.
Remember, the forecast cone shows us the forecast for the center of the tropical system. Often storms are very large which means we can see rain bands far away from the center. This means even locations near the cone will likely feel impacts.
Tropical storm warnings are in place for portions of the west coast of Florida, including Tallahassee, Apalachicola, Tampa, and Naples. A Tropical storm watch was issued farther inland, including Arcadia, Fort Meade, Live Oak, and even Valdosta, Georgia.
It is possible portions of coastal North and South Carolina could see 6-12″ through the middle of next week.
10-day Forecast:
Spotty showers possible Sunday and Monday but far from a wash out. Most of the next 10 days will be dominated by heat and humidity.
